Learn the basics of scrambling and footwork on this one-day Introduction to Scrambling. Build the confidence to leave the gentle slopes behind and head for wilder, rockier places.
You’ll work on personal movement skills on rock, building up confidence on exposed scrambling terrain, as well as developing your judgement for route planning in these demanding areas.
We will start the day by meeting at the Moel Siabod cafe for a 10am start. We will briefly run through the plan for the day and some safety pointers ahead of the course.
In the morning
We will relocate from the Cafe over a short 5-10 minute drive before heading into the hills. Most of our routes are aimed to get us onto the scramble as quickly as possible, but often require a short approach walk.
In the afternoon
We will use a grade 1 as our route to reach the summit of a Snowdonian peak. The route will be chosen based on various conditions, including weather. The majority of the day will be spent on the scramble, looking at various techniques and safety exercises throughout.
At the end of the course
We will aim to return to the cars for about 4pm, and will then relocate to the cafe again for a brief consolidation, and a well earned slice of cake.
All courses & trips are run by fully qualified, experienced, and insured guides.

This is a practical course, so the majority of the day will be spent out on the hill. We will keep classroom learning to an absolute minimum
Some experience hill walking would be advantageous but not essential.
The course will require fitness for a day walking in the hills, and due to the nature of the course, we will likely encounter some exposed mountain areas.
