This one day course is a great way to boost confidence and develop your skills in navigation, map setting, interpreting scales, contours and how to keep track of where you are. We use a variety of tools and maps, and different demonstrations to help clear up some key questions when starting to navigate.
We will start the day by meeting at the Moel Siabod cafe for a 10am start. We will briefly run through the plan for the day and some safety pointers ahead of the course.
In the morning
The morning will see us spend a little time indoors, going through the principals of mountain navigation and using contours, and covering a selection of the skills that we will later put to the test when out on the hill.
If the weather is adverse, we will look to spend a little longer indoors to ensure we are able to cover all topics, although whatever the weather, we will be outdoors after lunch.
In the afternoon
After lunch, we will head into the surrounding hills and mountains of Snowdonia to test out the skills we looked at during the morning.
At the end of the course
The course will return to the Cafe at abou 3.30-4pm for a consolidation of the skills we have looked at during the day and an opportunity to ask any questions you may have. And of course, to enjoy a slice of cake and a hot drink before we part ways at approximately 4.30-5pm.
All courses & trips are run by fully qualified, experienced, and insured guides.
