You will gain confidence in your navigation skills, developing from having little or no understanding, to a foundation of mountain navigation that you'll be able to build upon for years to come.
We will get to enjoy two days of walking in the stunning Snowdonian Mountains.
You will receive your NNAS Bronze Certificate upon successful completion of this course. NNAS is recognised by DofE, Scouting and The Ramblers, and is accredited by the Scottish Credit & Qualifications Framework (SCQF) at Level 4, and 2 SCQF credit points are awarded on completion.
We will meet at the Siabod Cafe in Capel Curig at 8.30 for a 9am start on day 1 of the course.
The majority of the morning will be spent looking at navigational theory inside. This will give us the opportunity to thoroughly cover various skills, whatever the weather.
Around lunchtime, we will then head outside to put our new skills to the test. We will aim to be back at the cafe for about 4pm, where we will briefly consolidate what we have done before the end of the day.
In a similar fashion to day 1, we will spend a little of the morning re-touching on the theory we looked at during the previous day, however, we will aim to get outside as soon as possible, and if conditions allow it, we will head to the summit of a nearby peak
At the end of the course
We will aim to return to the cafe for about 4pm on day 2, parting ways after a brief course overview.
